Our office has been a leader in the fitting and management of contact lenses since the 1960's. We were a FDA fitting site in the development of the first extended wear lenses in the 1980's.
Today, there are a wide variety of contact lens programs available. These include the traditional forms of contacts, which have been available for many years, such as the rigid gas permeable (RGP) and soft contact lenses to correct nearsightedness, and farsightedness. There are also contacts available which offer special correction for astigmatism (irregular curvature of the cornea the front surface of the eye), bifocal designs, and keratoconus (a disease which results in thinning and bulging of the cornea.) Additionally, there are soft lens packages for daily, biweekly, and semimonthly disposable lenses. We also offer contacts which can be worn continuously for up to 30 days.
Which one is right for you? A thorough contact lens exam in our office and consultation with one of our doctors can answer this question, and dispel any fears you might have about putting contacts on your eyes. We cater to our young patients, especially first time contact wearers, to thoroughly train and assist them in establishing good, successful habits to make them responsible wearers.
